What a lesson actually looks like
We meet on a video call at your scheduled time. I can see and hear you play, and you can see and hear me. We work through your pieces together, I demonstrate a passage, you try it, and I give you feedback right away — just like an in-person lesson, but you're in your own living room. We finish by setting a clear, doable goal for the week ahead.
The setup you need (less than you think)
You don't need a studio or fancy gear. You need:
- A device with a camera — a laptop, tablet, or phone all work.
- A reasonably steady internet connection.
- A spot with a little room to move your bow, where you can prop the device so I can see you.
- Your violin, bow, and music. That's genuinely it.
Earbuds or headphones are a nice extra, but not required.
How I see and hear what matters
The trick is camera angle, and I'll help you find a good one in the first couple of minutes. Usually we position the device so I can see your bow arm and left hand — and here's a small secret: a well-placed camera often gives me a closer, clearer view of your hands than I'd get sitting beside you. For ordinary lessons, standard device audio is perfectly good enough to hear tone and intonation.
